That's possible! But only if the cat allows it and the stress level isn't too high. We can never guarantee that the coat care can be completed.

Cats that come back frequently get used to their hotel stay faster. They will be more likely to tolerate trimming.

Basic and preventive coat care is always included in the price of an All-in package. This covers, for example, checking the fur with our fingers, removing small knots or removing a single tangle, .. Again, this can only happen when the cat is okay with it. If not, we don't do this check-up to minimize stress.

If you chose the basic package, you can book a Furr Mini for basic fur care (such as removing knots, removing a single big tangle, checking the fur, etc.).

If the full coat needs to be checked with the comb (with a very dense or long-haired coat) or if the coat has multiple tangles or is even felted, it's necessary to book a bigger coat care package, regardless of the accommodation package you have reserved.

The advantage of coat care during the hotel stay can be that we can spread it over several days. This way we can do a little bit every day, when a big trim would be too much for the cat. This way, we ensure a happier cat with less stress!

For behavioral consultations at home:

A trim consultation is usually possible on Monday and Thursday in the morning.
Is this not suitable for you? We will look further in time to see what other possibilities we have.

If you wish to make an appointment on weekdays after 4:30 PM, an additional evening charge of 25 euros will be added on top of the applied trim. We're working hard to offer trim consultations on Saturdays as well, but this is not possible for the moment. Thanks for understanding!

Cats that have less stress in everyday life, are usually easier to treat. Stress builds up when the cat doesn't have any breathing pauses during stressful events. Too much can express itself in unwanted behavior at home, but possibly on the grooming table as well, which can make the treatment more difficult. To deal with stress at home and get tailor-made advice, you can take a look at our options for assistance.

Some basic tips:

• Don't plan a grooming consultation too close to another stressful event (for example the vet or a vacation). Emergencies are of course always an exception!
• Make it as comfortable as possible for your cat to travel. Teach your cat to experience traveling as less frightening. More tips about it can be found on this blog and are similar to those for traveling to the vet.
• Play with your cat just before you have to leave or offer some relaxing herbs such as valerian.
• Make sure that you are as calm as possible. This is also important while placing the cat in its transportation carrier.
• Take a blanket with the cat's own scent and hair in the carrier. Bring an extra one for on the grooming table.

• The vaccination booklet
• A blanket with the smell of your cat (for example where your cat likes to sleep on). Take this blanket SEPARATELY! That way we shouldn't get this from under the cat in the carrier.
• Candy or a toy that your cat likes
• The material you use at home for coat care: for example combs, brushes, ...

Sometimes a cat can't be treated in one go because she simply doesn't allow it (anymore) and/or there's too much work on the coat.
In that case a follow-up session will be planned, preferably only after about 10 days.

It's doesn't happen often that a cat is completely untreatable. Many cats can be treated with the appropriate gentle approach, it's always worth testing a grooming consultation without anesthesia.

Only in very exceptional cases it's not possible. In that case we only charge a Furr Mini. Then you can schedule a coat-friendly treatment under anesthesia (under the supervision of our vet) to solve the coat problems. For a treatment like that, you make an appointment to bring the cat in the morning and pick it up around 3 pm.

Another name for skin-, cat- and coat-friendly trimming is non-invasive grooming and non-invasive trimming. This is a method that respects the coat and the well-being of the cat itself. It has a much more natural approach than the classical method, which removes as much hair as possible from the coat (called dewooling). The cat may or may not be held in the standard hold/grip.
This method takes the psyche and health of the cat into account.

The fur of the cat does have its value! So we work as coat sparing as possible. Therefore we only work with coat-friendly material. The aim of a trim is therefore not to get as much hair out of the coat as possible, but mainly to help the cat to keep its hair in the best possible condition. To ensure this is done in the most pleasant way possible we don't allow dogs (or even their scent) around!

It's a method that cat behavior therapists support!

• The cat in a safe transportation carrier :-)
• We request that the owner stays during the first treatment. This can be comforting for some cats. Read other ways to reduce stress during a consultation here!
• Limit the number of people accompanying the cat to a maximum of two.
• It is not recommended to bring very young children. Older children who can watch quietly are welcome!

Depending on the cat, we will cut the tips of the nails (not the full nails).

This is necessary to be able to protect ourselves a little during care. We work with respect, unfortunately most cats don't see coat care as a spa treatment, so sometimes it's necessary. It's a preventive and non-invasive measure that doesn't harm the cat (even if it has an outdoor life).

Once back home, the nails will soon be back in top condition after scratching a few times. After all, their nails don't stop growing and will soon be back to normal length.

Cats need their nails. The function of their nails:

• Climbing aid
• To catch prey
• Protecting feet from damage when walking
• To take care of themselves (for example: scratching behind the ears)
• Protecting themselves from enemies
• Visual communication (applying scratch marks. At the same time, the cat will spread its fragrance)

Exceptions: Only with abnormalities or nails that are likely to grow in (for example in older cats) we will treat more than just the tips.

Dewooling of the coat ensures that you'll have less hair in your house short term. Great, you would think?! Unfortunately, the intensive dewooling (of hair that isn't ready to fall out) ensures that you are just going to stimulate the coat to grow back quickly. The coat of the cat has important functions such as protection against mechanical damage, but also for example, to maintain its temperature.

However, the hairs that will grow back are of lower quality. The hair buds from which the hair grows are damaged by the "pull". They no longer have enough nutrition for a "strong" hair in the short term. As a result, these will also tangle up faster. This will make you want to comb even more and you'll end up in a spiral in which the quality of the coat continues to deteriorate.
You'll then start an extra intensive shedding period. The hairs will fall out more and more all at once. Normally this happens in phases with peaks in spring and summer. You run the risk of ending up in a constant, more intensive shed. The cat may therefore no longer be able to take care of her own coat and swallow more hair than she can process.
